ANF-5 (Sugar Run) was operational from 1933 to 1935. It was for blacks, as were ANF- 4 (Highland) and ANF- 12 (Lamont). The camp has reverted back to woodland, and no buildings remain. There are, however, the postholes for 14 buildings, two cement catch basins, five flagstone walkways, and numerous drains and ditches. The green glass bed road which is lined with large white pines is still discernable, but its outlet to Route 321 is obscured by overgrowth. The camp is on Route 321, north of the North Branch of Sugar Run. south of Forest Road 137, and west of Conover Hollow. Route 321 forms the southern boundary of the camp, Conover Hollow the eastern side, and Forest Road 137, at an angle, forms the northern and western side. (At the time the CCC camp was operational, Route 321 was called Route 59, and it was a main road westward from the town of Marshburg down along Sugar Run to the town on the Allegheny River also called Sugar Run.)06/11/2004
